allotment

Sunday February 1st

Up to the allotment to see how it had fared in the gale. Not good. I have lost my cloche :-( it's a bit smashed. Should have put a brick on it, as it tried to wrap itself round the raspberry post and didn't quite manage it. Still, can cut off the splintered end. Peeked in the new plot´s shed - there's a padlock on it, but not actually locking it as there's no hoop on the other side. Just looks locked. Probably as well, as then any nutters are less likely to break the frame if they want in. Inside is a chair, oodles of plastic bottles and miscellaneous pots. It looks like there's a hole in the roof but it is just missing some wood, with plastic covering the hole. So it is watertight.  Poor Lee has lost a couple of panes of his nice new greenhouse. And they're curved ones too. I think there will be more than a few lost pieces of glass around the place. Back home, put seed potatoes in modules and parked them up on the seed house to chit.

Tuesday February 10th

Got out of work early enough to get to the local broom handle manufacturer´s, so I'm now in possession of a pile of freebie broom handles for using as supports.

Saturday February 14th

Up to allotment armed with a hammer, three posts and a Paul. Now have three nice solid poles surrounding the blackberry. All I need to do now is go to South Heath and get the nylon rope to string between them, so I can tie the bramble up. Pulled a leek, three carrots (still ok, though a bit slugged) and cut a cabbage.
